Per Sjögren, et al: "Stand up for health—avoiding sedentary behaviour might lengthen your telomeres", British Journal of Sports Medicine (3 September 2014)

What's the secret to longevity? An age-old question (excuse me). One answer, apparently, might be standing up! According to a recently published article in the BJSM, there is evidence to suggest that "reduced sitting time" is "associated with telomere lengthening in blood cells".
So far, so unclear - for the likes of me (who doesn't know what a telomere is, or does) - but the whole thing becomes a tad more interesting when they reveal that "telomere length has been associated with a healthy lifestyle and longevity." So, whether that's enough to persuade you, me, or indeed presidents, to spend a little less time on our BTMs, I don't know; but I thought it worth sharing. Happy standing...
