(Why is it progress to become more ensnared by technology?) No, we can choose our own destiny. Mastercard's "biometric checkout programme" at supermarkets will be secure and convenient, they say. Well, maybe, but we know where that heads. It heads straight in the direction of the cashless society, in which digital currency can be programmed so we spend it as "they" want and we can be denied access to our accounts if we dissent. Please use cash as much as you can.
