TMR ze J. W. Ulm, MD, PhD: Expressions of concern about LNP mRNA vaccines, British Medical Journal (21 December 2020) & Science Translational Medicine (11 January 2021)

Writing as someone who might one day, conceivably, allow a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 to enter my body, if it has proven itself safe enough in my opinion after a fairly long period of time (say, a year or two?), and so long as I don't feel coerced into taking it by those who stand to gain politically and/or financially from my consent, I nevertheless feel compelled to share these rather unsettling words by J. W. Ulm, MD, PhD.

I am no scientist, so there's much that I don't understand in Dr. Ulm's "rapid response" letter in the British Medical Journal, but when I read words such as, "elevated risk of cytotoxic, inflammatory, and autoimmune effects, even more so if the liposomal particles can traverse the blood-brain barrier" and "effects may be at first subclinical, manifesting fully only after successive immunizations over months or years", I cannot help but wonder if "LNP-containing mRNA vaccines" (where "LNP" stand for "lipid nano particle") are the best way to go.

  • J. W. Ulm, "Rapid response to: Will covid-19 vaccines save lives? Current trials aren’t designed to tell us", BMJ 2020;371:m4037

That was back in October 2020, so maybe Dr. Ulm's fears were quickly assuaged thereafter. Not so, according to his comments under this article by Derek Lowe at Science Transaltional Medicine, published almost three months later.

Then again, even that was over a month ago, so perhaps satisfactory answers have been forthcoming in the meantime. Well, it doesn't look like it. I note that some of J. W. Ulm's concerns are mentioned in this article published in the BMJ just a week ago. Moreover, the article ends with these rather disturbing words:

"Regulators and manufacturers contacted by The BMJ for this article did not wish to address any of the questions raised by Ulm’s rapid response."

  • Serena Tinari, "The EMA covid-19 data leak, and what it tells us about mRNA instability", BMJ 2021;372:n627

Bottom line: until such concerns are addressed in a really satisfactory manner (well beyond various idiots saying "It's safe, don't y'know. Are you anti-vax, or what?"), I ain't rushing to get that in my arm.

And let me add, as I often do, if you know of good answers to J. W. Ulm's concerns, please do let me know, and I'll add that information to this page. I am absolutely not trying to "fear monger" about vaccines, or anything else. I just want to understand what's going on.
