Charles Eisenstein, “Central Bank Digital Currencies : And the Social Nature of Money", Charles Eisenstein on Substack (20 April 2022)
Please don't dismiss this as just another article about the perils of CBDCs. It's much more than that. In his typically brilliant way, Charles Eisenstein (what a fantastic name!)—whose worldview probably differs from mine in some fundamental ways—clearly explains the benefits and considerable disbenefits of Central Bank Digital Currencies.
But he goes further to explore the social nature of money, which—while we may not agree with every aspect of his analysis—certainly throws up some new (to me) and very interesting questions as to the nature and role of money in society. Please read this and ponder if you have about twenty minutes to spare.
