Big Brother Watch, "Factsheets on the UK Investigatory Powers Bill", BigBrotherWatch.org.uk (2016)

Big Brother Watch has helpfully provided a series of PDF factsheets to summarise some of the key snooping powers which the current UK government is pushing for via its Investigatory Powers Bill (the so-called "Snoopers' Charter"). The Bill is currently making its way through Parliament and is continuing to be debated and amended. They want it to be law by the end of 2016. Here's an example of what's afoot:

From the Big Brother Watch factsheet on "Equipment Interference"

"EQUIPMENT INTERFERENCE (EI) is the term given in the Investigatory Powers Bill to describe the act of hacking. If the Bill becomes law, the police and the
intelligence agencies—MI5, MI6 and GCHQ—will be legally allowed to hack a device, system or network to watch, change, destroy or obtain data in secret without the user knowing." *

If you don't like this—as I don't (and no sensible person should)—please let your MP know.
