Would many of today's churches be recognisable to the earliest Christians? Did Jesus envisage cathedrals with mitre-adorned bishops or megachurches with suit-wearing pastors? Or has something important been lost—or, at least, obscured from full vision—over the centuries?
We are joined by Keith Giles—author of the well-known "Jesus Un..." series—for a bracing conversation on his challenging 2019 book, Jesus Unveiled : Forsaking Church as We Know It for Ekklesia as God Intended. Keith, "who abandoned the pulpit to follow Jesus", shares with us from his experience how it's possible to recapture "being church" through taking Jesus at His word and together encountering Him directly.
"Keith Giles is a former pastor who abandoned the pulpit to follow Jesus and ended up founding a church where 100% of the offering is given away to help the poor in the community. He is the author of several best-selling books including Jesus Untangled, Jesus Unbound, and Jesus Unveiled. He lives with his wife, Wendy, in El Paso, Texas."[church, ekklesia, housechurch, leadership, spiritual gifts, charismatic, bishop, elder, authority, temple, priest, sacrifice, worship, discipline, doctrine, orthodoxy, heresy, Holy Spirit, Jesus, God, Bible, Quakers, liturgy]
